Cooperation with a Chinese company significantly increases the production volume of nets at MøreNot and affiliates outside of Norway. Parallel production will take place in Norway, Canada, UK, Spain and Ireland in order to handle rush orders. For the costumers, this signifies a greater freedom of choice when placing an order.

Our customers will not notice any difference in quality. The quality will be of the same high standard regardless of where it is produced. If the customer has short delivery deadlines it is natural that the products are manufactured locally. If time is not a pressing issue, the fish farm nets can be made in China at a lower cost.

«This gives our customers a unique opportunity to chose delivery time and price. At the same time, it has been important to meet all customer requirements and deliver both on short and long notice, says head of the fish-farming department at MøreNot, Alf Hildre.

Identical production methods

MøreNot has over the past few years invested a lot of resources into educating the Chinese manufacturer in regards to production methods of fishing equipment such as gill nets and purse seines, and now nets for fish farming. It has been of the uttermost importance to ensure the same level of high quality in China as MøreNot holds in Norway and other markets where they are present. Alf Hildre has been a central figure in the educational program at the factory in China.

«The factory in China produces the nets in the exact same way as in Norway or at our affiliates abroad. They even use the same type of machines. During my stays at the factory I have been impressed by the high quality the products hold,» states Hildre. 

Double quality assurance

It has been a vital requirement that the Chinese factory can fulfil the quality requirements pertaining to the Norwegian Standard for marine fish farms (NS 9415).

«We emphasize the importance of being present during production of the ordered nets at the Chinese factory. This way we can ensure the quality of the products before they are shipped out. In addition, another quality control awaits upon arrival in the receiving country, so the products go through a double quality check before being delivered to our customers,» Hildre explains.
